Ph.D Studies

Admission

Candidates holding a research-based Master’s degree from the Technion or from a recognized academic institution in Israel or abroad may apply, provided that both their overall grade point average and their Master’s thesis grade are no lower than 80.

Applicants to the Ph.D. program are required to secure a supervisor prior to submitting their application and to provide two letters of recommendation. At least one of these letters must be written by the supervisor of the Master’s thesis.

External candidates who are not enrolled as full-time students and wish to pursue a doctoral degree are required to submit a detailed research plan. The plan must be approved by the Graduate Studies Committee of the Faculty of Mathematics and must specify that the candidate will devote a minimum of three days per week to research, whether at the Technion or elsewhere. In certain cases, additional documentation, such as certification from an employer or from the military, may be required. Admission is subject to the approval of the Faculty Committee for Advanced Degrees.
