Abstract:  I will present a new and simple proof (published with Banks, Breuer, Garza Vargas and Seelig)  of Sunada’s gap labelling for periodic Jacobi matrices on trees.  I will discuss what periodic Jacobi matrices on trees are and the historical background of the result as well as present the proof.
