Driven propulsion though complex biological media (MSc/PhD)

Wireless (magnetic) micro-robots are promising tools for modern medicine, since they can offer novel minimally-invasive surgical procedures and serve as drug delivery vehicles. However, currently a major challenge of prospective biomedical applications of micro-robots, is their inability to penetrate dense biological tissues, such as solid tumors. The aim of this project is to gain a better understanding of the fundamental mechanisms of driven propulsion through such complex media via mathematical modelling. The project is in a collaboration with the experimental group (German Cancer Research Center, Dresden).
