This year, we will welcome three new faculty members, each bringing a distinct research profile, new perspectives, and additional depth to the faculty’s academic community.
Dr. Gil Goffer, who joins us from the University of California, San Diego, where she is completing her postdoctoral research, following her PhD at the Weizmann Institute of Science.
Dr. Goffer’s research focuses on finitely generated groups and locally compact groups, particularly their actions on associated spaces. Her work draws on geometric and probabilistic tools to address problems in algebra.
Dr. Gautam Aishwarya, joins us from Michigan State University, where he is completing a postdoctoral position in mathematics, following his PhD at the University of Delaware.
His research lies at the intersection of convex geometry, analysis, and probability theory. Gautam studies convexity-inspired geometric and functional inequalities, such as the Brunn Minkowski inequality and its descendants. He is especially interested in problems that can be reinterpreted in terms of information-theoretic quantities, such as the entropy of probability measures, and how these quantities evolve under natural flows like the heat flow and optimal transport.
Dr. Daniele Garzoni joins us from the University of Southern California, where he is completing a postdoctoral position, following a previous postdoctoral appointment at Tel Aviv University and a PhD from the University of Padua.
His research focuses on asymptotic questions in finite group theory, including questions involving large finite simple groups and permutation groups of large degree. He also studies monodromy groups, random polynomials, and specializations in number theory.
