๐ข Join us at our next Math Colloquium!
๐๏ธ Date: Monday, July 22
๐ Time: 15:30
๐ Location: Amado 232
We are honored to host Noga Alon (Princeton and Tel Aviv University), recipient of the 2024 Wolf Prize for his profound impact on Discrete Mathematics. He will present a talk titled: โDistance problems for typical norms.โ
Abstract: In collaboration with Matia Bucic and Lisa Sauermann, Noga Alon will explore extremal problems in discrete geometry for typical norms. The talk will cover tight solutions to the unit and distinct distances problems, and the chromatic number of the unit distance graph for a typical planar norm, addressing questions and conjectures by Matousek, Brass, Chilakamarri, Robertson, Moser, and Pach.
Refreshments will be served at 15:00 at the faculty lounge on the 8th floor.
