Markos was recently awarded the Prof. Haim Hanani award for his research in automorphic forms and representations, under the guidance of Prof. Moshe Baruch.
His research primarily focuses on automorphic forms and automorphic representations with applications to the classical theory of modular forms. One of his research goals is to characterize the space of new forms of half-integral weight modular forms as the intersection of eigenspaces of a family of Hecke operators. Much of his work also concerns the structure of the underlying p−adic Hecke Algebras and how their characters give rise to local newforms.
