Jeremiah Grossman

Prof. Jeremiah Grossman (1884-1964) was born in Russia and immigrated to Israel in 1924. despite his academic education, he decided to engage in manual labor in Israel, in shoemaking. Prof. Jeremiah Grossman returned to teaching mathematics only after many pleas from his friends. He taught mathematics at the Reali School, and when the Technion opened, he was the first lecturer in mathematics at the institution. He founded the mathematics department and served as its dean for years. In 1953, he was appointed to the position of assistant to the president of the Technion. In October-November 1931, he served as temporary director of the Technion.
